How to Draw a Seahorse
Draw a seahorse in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: eye and snout.
Step 1: Eye and snout
High up, left of the middle, draw 1 huge round eye. In front of it, draw a long tube snout.
Tip The snout is 2 eyes long. Leave lots of room below.
Step 2: Round head
Start at the snout top. Draw a big rainbow head over the eye, down to the neck. Add a chin.
Step 3: Curvy body
From the chin, draw a round tummy down to a thin tail base. Draw the back down from the neck.
Tip The tummy is the fattest part. It gets thinner towards the tail.
Step 4: Curly tail
Start at the back's end. Curl the tail forward like a snail shell, getting thinner. Stop at the tummy line.
Step 5: Sail fin
Start on the back under the neck. Draw a sail leaning back and stop lower down. Add 2 lines.
Step 6: Cheek fin
On the back of the head, level with the snout, draw a tiny leaf fin pointing back.
Step 7: Bumpy crown
On top of the head, draw 3 little bumps along the head line, like a tiny crown.
Step 8: Ridges
Across the tummy, draw 5 lines from front to back, like ladder rungs, each sagging a little.
Step 9: Bubbles
In front of the snout, draw 3 bubbles floating up: small, bigger, biggest.
Step 10: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy sand line across the bottom. Grow 2 wavy seaweeds on the left, 1 on the right.
Step 11: Yellow fins and sand
Colour the sail fin, cheek fin and crown yellow. Colour the sand tan, down to the bottom of the paper.
Step 12: Pink cheek, blue bubbles
Colour a pink cheek dot under the eye. Colour the bubbles light blue.
Step 13: Teal seahorse, green seaweed
Colour the head, snout, body and tail teal around the pink cheek, leaving the eye white. Colour the seaweed green.
