How to Draw a Chick Egg
Draw a chick egg in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big egg head.
Step 1: Big egg head
Near the top of your paper draw a big egg, fat side down. It is most of the chick.
Step 2: Three fluffy tufts
On top of the head draw 3 soft round tufts: a tall middle one and a shorter one each side.
Tip Round tops, not points: they are fluff.
Step 3: Two big eyes
A bit below the middle of the head draw 2 big eggy eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Open beak and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a fat triangle pointing down. Add a smile bump under it and 2 cheeks.
Tip The gap between the beak parts is the chick chirping.
Step 5: Round tummy
Start under each cheek. Curve each side out and down, and stop just below the fattest part.
Tip The tummy is narrower than the head.
Step 6: Two tucked wings
On each side, start on the tummy line under the head. Draw a plump leaf wing back to the start.
Step 7: Little fan tail
On the right of the tummy draw 2 fat teardrop feathers like a fan. Start and stop on the tummy.
Step 8: The broken egg
Start left of the tummy. Zigzag across under the wings, then draw a big U under, back to the start.
Step 9: Ground line
Draw a straight ground line under the egg, sticking out a little past each side.
Step 10: Yellow chick
Colour the head, tufts, tummy, wings and tail yellow, around the eyes, cheeks and beak.
Step 11: Orange beak
Colour the beak orange and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes and the shell white.
