How to Draw a Sea Lion Balancing a Ball
Draw a sea lion balancing a ball in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tipped-up head.
Step 1: Tipped-up head
Start low on the left. Draw a bean head, nose up top right, and stop low on the right.
Tip A sea lion lifts its nose right up to balance.
Step 2: Eye, nose and smile
Draw 1 big round eye with a black dot. Add a black oval nose tip and a short smile.
Step 3: Ear and whiskers
Draw a tiny curved ear line behind the eye. Add 3 short whiskers on the snout, above the smile.
Step 4: The ball
On the tip of the nose, draw a big round ball. Add 2 curved stripes side by side across it.
Tip The ball touches at one tiny point: that makes it look like balancing.
Step 5: Pear body
From each end of the neck, draw a big C down, wider than the head, meeting under the tummy.
Step 6: Two flippers
Start below the chin on each side. Draw a smooth paddle out and down, back up to the body.
Step 7: Tummy patch
Between the flippers, draw a big egg shape on the tummy, not touching them.
Step 8: Tail flippers
Start high on the right paddle. Draw 2 fat round lobes out right, back to the paddle lower down.
Step 9: The rock
From the left flipper, draw a big rock under the body, out past the tail, and back to the tail.
Step 10: Yellow and tan
Colour the middle stripe of the ball yellow and the tummy patch tan.
Step 11: Grey rock, red ball
Colour the rock grey. Colour the rest of the ball red, around the yellow stripe.
Step 12: Colour it brown
Colour the head, body, flippers and tail brown, around the tummy patch. Leave the eye white.
