How to Draw a Baboon
Draw a baboon in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top, draw a big round head with full cheeks and a narrower chin. Make it half the baboon.
Tip Leave room at the sides for the ears.
Step 2: Long muzzle
Start at the chin. Draw a tall upside-down U up the face, back down to the chin. Dot 2 nostrils.
Tip Keep it thin at the top and wide at the chin, like a dog's muzzle.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
Draw a big eye with a black dot each side of the muzzle top. Add a smile under the nostrils.
Step 4: Small round ears
On each side of the head, draw a small C ear sticking out, with a smaller C inside.
Step 5: Cheek fur
From under each ear, draw 4 soft fur bumps along the cheek, stopping before the chin.
Tip Baboons have a fluffy mane round the face.
Step 6: Two long arms
Draw a ground line. From under each cheek, draw a long arm down to a round hand on the ground.
Tip The arms are the body's sides. Each gets thinner at the wrist, and the hand is wider.
Step 7: Tummy and feet
Between the arms, draw an oval tummy. Under it, draw 2 bun feet on the ground.
Step 8: Fingers and toes
At the bottom of each hand and foot, draw 2 short lines.
Step 9: Curved tail
From behind the right hand, draw a tail curving out and up, getting thinner to a soft tip.
Step 10: Tan hands and feet
Colour the ear insides, tummy, hands and feet tan. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Brown fur
Colour the head, cheek fur, ears, body, arms and tail brown, around the tan parts. Skip the eyes and muzzle.
Step 12: Grey muzzle
Colour the long muzzle dark grey, around the nostrils.
