How to Draw a Seal Swimming
Draw a seal swimming in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long body.
Step 1: Long body
Draw a long smooth body like a fat banana: a round head on the right, thin on the left.
Tip No neck and no ears. A seal is one smooth shape.
Step 2: Big eye
On the head draw a big round eye. Add a black dot inside with a tiny white shine.
Step 3: Nose and smile
Draw a small black nose on the tip of the head. Start under it and curve a smile back.
Step 4: Whiskers
Start beside the nose. Draw 3 short whiskers fanning back. Stop before the eye and the smile.
Tip Keep the whiskers inside the face.
Step 5: Front flipper
Start low on the side, behind the head. Draw a long paddle sweeping back and down.
Tip Flippers held back make the seal glide fast.
Step 6: Other flipper
Just in front of it draw the tip of the other flipper peeking out under the chest.
Step 7: Tail flippers
Start on the thin end. Draw 2 paddles spreading apart like a V, back to the thin end.
Step 8: Tummy line
Start under the chin. Draw a line along the side and stop at the thin end.
Step 9: Three bubbles
Draw 3 bubbles rising above the nose, big, middle and small.
Step 10: Wavy surface
Start at the top left. Draw a wavy line across the top of your paper and stop at the right.
Step 11: Cream tummy
Colour the tummy under the line cream.
Step 12: Grey seal
Colour the rest of the seal grey, flippers too. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Blue water
Colour the water blue under the wavy line, all around the seal. Leave the bubbles white.
