How to Draw a Sculptor

14 steps · Tricky · about 11 min

Draw a sculptor in 14 steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper, a little left, draw an egg for the head, narrower at the chin.

Tip The stone block stands on the right.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 big eyes with shines, a nose and a smile. Each C ear starts and stops on the head.

  3. Step 3: Side hair and beard

Draw 2 bumpy hair tufts from the head, each stopping on an ear. Add a round beard under the smile.

  4. Step 4: The shirt

Under the beard draw the shirt, with a sleeve pointing up on the left and one out on the right.

Tip The left sleeve points up for the raised arm.

  5. Step 5: The apron

On the shirt draw an apron: a short flat top, and 2 long sides spreading down to a curved hem.

  6. Step 6: Long sleeves

From the left sleeve draw the arm up beside the head to the wrist. The right arm reaches out sideways.

Tip The left arm holds the mallet up; the right reaches out with the chisel.

  7. Step 7: Hands

On the raised wrist draw a fat egg fist pointing up. On the right wrist draw one pointing out.

  8. Step 8: Mallet and chisel

Mallet: from the raised fist up to a box head. Chisel: from the right fist out to a slanted tip.

Tip Both tools pass behind the fists. A short line across the chisel ends its handle.

  9. Step 9: Stone block and statue

Draw a long ground line. On the right draw a stone block, topped with a round head and shoulders.

  10. Step 10: Trousers and shoes

Start at the shirt's left corner. Draw 2 trouser legs down and stop at the right corner. Add shoes.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, ears and hands peach, with a pink circle on each cheek. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Tan apron, blue shirt

Colour the apron tan and the shirt and sleeves sky blue.

  13. Step 13: Grey stone and beard

Colour the stone block, the statue, the beard and the hair grey.

  14. Step 14: Brown and black

Colour the mallet, chisel handle and trousers brown, and the shoes black. Your sculptor is done!
