How to Draw a Grandma and Kid

Draw a grandma and kid in 15 steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two heads.

Step 1: Two heads
Draw 2 egg heads: a big one top left for grandma, and a small one lower right for the boy.
Tip The kid is half as tall. Leave a gap between them for hands.
Step 2: The grandma's face
On the big head draw 2 dot eyes, each with a shine. Add a tiny U nose and a smile.
Step 3: The boy's face
On the small head draw 2 dot eyes with a shine, a tiny U nose and a smile.
Step 4: Grandma's hair and glasses
On the big head draw hair with a fringe and a round bun. Add round glasses around the eyes.
Step 5: The boy's cap
On the small head draw a baseball cap over the top, with a curved visor in front and a button.
Tip Make the visor wider than the head, so it sticks out on both sides.
Step 6: Necks, dress and T-shirt
From each chin draw neck lines down to the collar. Add grandma's dress with 3 buttons and the boy's T-shirt.
Tip Draw 2 lines across the T-shirt, from side to side, for a stripe.
Step 7: Arms
From each shoulder draw 2 lines down to the wrist, thinner at the end. Give grandma's sleeves a cuff line.
Tip Rub out the round shoulder line inside each of grandma's sleeves.
Step 8: Holding hands
From each wrist draw a mitten, back to the arm. In the gap, grandma's mitten peeks out behind the boy's.
Step 9: Legs
From grandma's hem draw 2 legs down to the ankles. Draw shorts from T-shirt corner to corner, then 2 legs.
Step 10: Shoes and ground
Under each leg draw a shoe with the toe pointing out. Draw 1 long ground line under all the shoes.
Step 11: The grandma's skin
Colour grandma's cheeks pink, then her face, neck, hands and legs peach around them. Leave the lenses white.
Step 12: The boy's skin
Colour the boy's cheeks pink, then his face, neck, arms, hands and legs peach around them.
Step 13: Yellow T-shirt, red cap
Colour the boy's T-shirt yellow, leaving the stripe white. Colour his cap and button red.
Step 14: Grey hair, purple dress
Colour grandma's hair and bun grey, and her dress and sleeves purple.
Step 15: Blue shorts, black shoes
Colour the boy's shorts blue and all the shoes black. Go over your lines and you're done.
