How to Draw a Screw

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a screw in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Above the middle draw a flat line a hand wide. Draw a low cap over it with round shoulders.

Tip Keep it low and wide, like a button. A tall dome looks like a mushroom.

  2. Step 2: The slot

In the middle of the head, near the top, draw a little plus sign.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

In the head under the slot draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, with a shine.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye. Add a flat cheek below and outside each eye.

  5. Step 5: The body

Start under the head, left side. Go down, getting narrower, to a small flat end, then up to the head.

Tip The pointy tip is hidden in the floor.

  6. Step 6: The threads

Across the body draw 5 slanted lines, evenly spaced, from the left edge to a bit lower on the right.

  7. Step 7: A shine

Near the top left corner of the head, draw one short curved shine line along the edge.

  8. Step 8: Sparkles and shadow

Draw 3 small sparkle stars around the screw, a floor line along its flat end, and a flat oval shadow.

  9. Step 9: Yellow and pink

Go over your lines, then colour the sparkles yellow and the cheeks pink.

  10. Step 10: Grey screw

Colour the head and the body grey, around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Grey shadow

Colour the shadow grey under the screw. Your screw is done!
