How to Draw a Satellite Dish
Draw a satellite dish in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big dish.
Step 1: The big dish
In the middle of your paper draw a big oval, tipped so its right end dips, like a leaning plate.
Step 2: The inside rim
Inside the oval draw a second oval a finger in from the edge, all the way round.
Step 3: A friendly face
In the middle of the dish draw 2 big round eyes with shiny dots, and a wide smile under them.
Step 4: Back of the dish
Start at the oval's left end. Draw a curve below its bottom edge, meeting the oval at the bottom right.
Tip This thin moon shape is the back of the bowl, so the dish looks deep.
Step 5: The feed arm
Start low inside the rim on the right. Draw a thick arm up past the edge, ending in a box.
Tip The box looks back at the dish to catch the signal it bounces.
Step 6: The post
Start under the dish. Draw a thick post, 2 straight lines, stopping a little above the bottom of the paper.
Step 7: The base plate
Under the post draw a flat wide plate with soft corners. The post stands on its middle.
Step 8: The ground
Start at the left edge. Draw a long ground line under the base plate, stopping at the right edge.
Step 9: Signal waves
In the top right corner draw 3 curved lines, one inside the next, bending toward the dish: the signal.
Step 10: Stars in space
Draw 3 sparkle stars in the sky: a big one top left, and 2 small ones low left and right.
Step 11: Yellow stars, pink cheeks
Colour the sparkle stars yellow. Then give the dish 2 rosy pink cheeks under its eyes.
Step 12: Grey dish
Colour the dish grey, around the eyes, the cheeks and the arm. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Slate back and stand
Colour the back of the dish, the arm, the box, the post and the base plate dark slate grey.
