How to Draw a Seed Tray

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a seed tray in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tray top.

Print

  1. Step 1: The tray top

In the middle draw a wide flat shape: a long line in front, a shorter line behind, 2 slanted sides.

Tip Seeds start life in a tray with one little cell for each seedling.

  2. Step 2: The front lip

Under the front edge draw a flat strip the same width for the front of the tray.

  3. Step 3: Six cells

Split the top into 6 cells with 5 slanted lines from the front edge to the back edge, evenly spaced.

  4. Step 4: Soil

In each cell draw a small flat oval for the soil.

  5. Step 5: Stems

From the middle of each soil oval draw a gently curved stem growing up, each a different height and lean.

  6. Step 6: Leaves

On top of each stem draw 2 little pointed leaves, one leaning left and one right, like a tiny V.

  7. Step 7: Table

Draw a long table line under the tray, starting past its left end and stopping past its right end.

  8. Step 8: Sun

At the top right draw a little sun: a circle with short rays round it.

  9. Step 9: Yellow sun

Go over your lines, then colour the sun yellow.

  10. Step 10: Green leaves

Colour all the little leaves leaf green.

  11. Step 11: Brown soil

Colour the little soil ovals brown.

  12. Step 12: Slate tray

Colour the tray top and front slate grey, going around the soil. Six tiny plants!
