How to Draw a Broken Mirror
Draw a broken mirror in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the frame.
Step 1: The frame
In the upper half of your paper draw one big egg-shaped oval, taller than it is wide.
Tip Make the left side and the right side match.
Step 2: The collar
Under the frame draw a small soft box, its top tucked behind the frame.
Step 3: The handle
Start under the collar. Draw a long handle down, round the end, and come back up to the collar.
Tip A long strip that narrows to a round end.
Step 4: The glass
Inside the frame draw a second oval, a finger in from the edge, so the frame is a thick ring.
Tip Keep the ring the same width all the way round.
Step 5: Three gems
On the middle of the frame ring draw 3 small round gems: top, upper left and upper right.
Step 6: The hit spot
In the glass, a little up and left of the middle, colour in a small black dot.
Step 7: Cracks going up
Start at the dot. Draw 2 cracks up to the edge of the glass, each with one small bend.
Tip Cracks are straight with sharp bends, never wavy.
Step 8: Cracks going down
Start at the dot. Draw 2 longer bent cracks, one to the right edge and one down to the bottom.
Step 9: Cracks going left
Start at the dot. Draw 2 more bent cracks, one down to the left and one straight left.
Step 10: Small cracks
Draw 5 short straight lines, each from one crack across to the next crack.
Tip Put each one at a different distance from the dot.
Step 11: Sky glass, yellow gems
Go over your lines. Colour the glass sky blue, and the gems and the collar yellow.
Step 12: Pink frame
Colour the frame ring and the handle pink, going around the gems. Your broken mirror is done!
