How to Draw a Canteen

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a canteen in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the round body.

Print

  1. Step 1: The round body

Below the middle of your paper, draw a big round circle for the canteen.

Tip Leave lots of room above it for the cap and the strap.

  2. Step 2: The ring seam

Inside the circle draw a smaller circle, leaving an even band all the way round.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

Inside the ring, just above the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.

Tip Leave 2 white shines in each black dot.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye. Draw a small flat cheek beside each end.

  5. Step 5: The neck

Start on top of the circle. Draw 2 short lines straight up, a thumb apart. Stop level with each other.

  6. Step 6: The cap

On the neck draw a flat box with soft corners, wider than the neck. Add 3 grip lines.

  7. Step 7: Strap rings

On each side of the circle, a little above the middle, draw a small half ring poking out.

Tip Start and stop each ring on the circle.

  8. Step 8: The strap

Start at one ring. Draw a tall rainbow up over the cap and down to the other ring.

Tip Keep a big gap between the cap and the strap.

  9. Step 9: Inside the strap

Draw a second rainbow just inside the first, starting and stopping on the rings.

  10. Step 10: The ground

Draw a long ground line under the canteen, from one side of the paper to the other.

Tip Use a ruler if you like.

  11. Step 11: Pink cheeks, grey cap

Go over your lines. Colour the cheeks pink, and the cap, neck and rings grey.

  12. Step 12: Light green middle

Colour inside the ring light green, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Green rim, brown strap

Colour the band round the edge dark green and the strap brown. Your canteen is done!
