How to Draw a Samoyed

Draw a Samoyed in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big oval head.

Step 1: Big oval head
Near the top of your paper draw a big oval, a little wider than tall.
Tip Make it big: almost half of the whole dog. Leave room below.
Step 2: Small furry ears
Start top left on the head. Draw a small thick ear up to a round point and back. Same right.
Tip Add a smaller triangle inside each ear.
Step 3: 2 big eyes
Just above the middle of the head draw 2 egg eyes a gap apart, with a black dot and shine.
Step 4: Snout and nose
Under the eyes draw a wide oval snout. Sit a black triangle nose on top, with a tiny shine.
Step 5: Sammy smile
From the nose draw a line down, then a big w smile up to each side. Add a U tongue.
Tip The famous samoyed smile! The tongue hangs from the middle.
Step 6: The body
Start under each ear. Draw a big C down to near the bottom. Join the ends with a sagging line.
Step 7: Fluffy ruff
Under the chin draw 6 fluffy bumps from the left side across to the right, like a furry scarf.
Step 8: Front legs
Start under the ruff. Draw a long U for each leg, thinner down to a round paw, then back up.
Step 9: Back paws and tail
Draw a hill paw at each bottom corner. From the right draw a bumpy plume tail up to a point.
Step 10: Cheek fluff and ground
Beside each eye, draw 3 fluffy bumps down the cheek, stopping on the head. Add a ground line.
Tip Keep the top of the head smooth. The fluff is only on the cheeks.
Step 11: White fur
Colour all the fur white, around the snout, tongue and ear insides. Keep the eyes white too.
Step 12: Cream snout and ears
Colour the snout and the ear insides cream, so the white fur shows up.
Step 13: Pink tongue
Colour the tongue pink. Your fluffy samoyed is ready to smile!
