Print

  1. Step 1: Mother owl

In the middle draw a tall egg with 2 pointed ear tufts on top, for the mother owl.

Tip Leave room on both sides for her 2 owlets.

  2. Step 2: Big eyes

High on the egg draw 2 big circle eyes, nearly touching. Add a black dot and a shine in each.

  3. Step 3: Beak

Under the gap between the eyes draw a small pointed beak, like a V with a curved top.

  4. Step 4: Tummy feathers

Start at the bottom. Draw a big arch on the tummy and stop at the bottom. Add 6 U feathers.

Tip Each row runs from one side of the arch to the other.

  5. Step 5: Folded wings

Start on each shoulder. Draw a curve down and in, and stop on the tummy arch.

Tip Her wings are folded flat against her sides.

  6. Step 6: Two owlets

On each side draw a small fluffy egg, half as tall, with 3 soft bumps on top.

Tip Tuck them in close to their mother without touching her.

  7. Step 7: Owlet eyes

On each owlet draw 2 round eyes side by side, with a black dot and a shine in each.

  8. Step 8: Beaks and wings

Give each owlet a tiny beak. On each side, start a small wing curve and stop at the bottom.

  9. Step 9: The branch

Under the 3 owls draw a long branch across the paper, with round ends.

  10. Step 10: Gripping feet

Under each owl draw 2 feet with 3 round toes, gripping the branch.

  11. Step 11: Yellow eyes

Go over your lines. Colour all 6 eyes yellow, around the black dots.

  12. Step 12: Orange beaks and feet

Colour the 3 beaks and all the feet orange.

  13. Step 13: Cream tummy, tan owlets

Colour the mother's tummy cream. Colour the 2 owlets tan, around their eyes and beaks.

  14. Step 14: Brown mother and branch

Colour the mother owl light brown, around her tummy. Colour the branch dark brown, around the feet.
