How to Draw a Palm Leaf

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a palm leaf in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the stalk.

Print

  1. Step 1: The stalk

From a rounded end low on the left, draw a stalk curving up and thinning to a point top right.

Tip A palm leaf is like a big feather: one stalk with long thin leaflets.

  2. Step 2: The first leaflets

A little way up the stalk, draw a long thin leaflet on each side, curving over at its pointed end.

  3. Step 3: 2 more pairs

Just above them, draw 2 more pairs of long curved leaflets, close together and bending the same way.

  4. Step 4: Middle pairs

Keep going up the stalk with 2 more pairs, each one a little shorter.

  5. Step 5: Pairs up the stalk

Draw 2 more pairs, shorter again, with the same small gap between each.

  6. Step 6: Shorter pairs

Add 2 more pairs of shorter leaflets, still close together.

  7. Step 7: Pairs to the tip

Draw the last 3 pairs of short leaflets near the tip, still evenly spaced.

  8. Step 8: The tip

On the very tip of the stalk draw one last short leaflet pointing the same way as the stalk.

  9. Step 9: Green leaflets

Go over your lines, then colour all the leaflets leaf green.

  10. Step 10: Dark green stalk

Colour the stalk dark green. Your palm leaf is done!
