How to Draw a Marigold
Draw a marigold in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle.
Step 1: The middle
Near the top of your paper draw a small circle as big as a grape.
Step 2: First ring
Start just above the circle. Draw a ring of 6 round bumps all round and stop where you started.
Step 3: Second ring
Start above that ring. Draw a bigger ring of 9 round bumps and stop where you started.
Step 4: Outside ring
Start above that. Draw the biggest ring of 12 round bumps and stop where you started, like a pom-pom.
Step 5: The stem
Start under the flower. Draw 2 softly bending lines down to near the bottom, a bit wider apart there.
Step 6: Two leaves
A hand below the flower draw a fat leaf on each side of the stem, tips pointing out.
Step 7: Leaf veins
Start on the stem in the middle of each leaf. Draw one curved vein and stop short of the tip.
Step 8: The ground
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line across the bottom and stop near the right edge.
Step 9: Grass
From the ground line on each side of the stem, flick up 2 little grass blades.
Step 10: Yellow ring
Colour the inside ring of bumps yellow, but not the little middle.
Step 11: Orange petals
Colour the 2 outside rings of bumps orange around the yellow, right into every bump.
Step 12: Green and brown
Colour the stem and both leaves green and the little middle brown. Your marigold is done!
