How to Draw an African Violet
Draw an African violet in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pot.
Step 1: The pot
Draw a flat pot rim below the middle. From its left end draw a tub round to its right end.
Tip The leaves make a flat ring, with the flowers right in the middle.
Step 2: 2 big leaves
Over the rim draw 2 big plump oval leaves leaning out, one to the left and one to the right.
Step 3: More leaves
Between and above them draw 3 more round leaves, overlapping, the middle one highest, making a flat ring.
Step 4: Leaf veins
Draw 1 short vein along the middle of each of the 3 biggest leaves, stopping short of both ends.
Step 5: First flower
Above the leaves draw a small flower: 5 round petals in a ring with a dot in the middle.
Step 6: 2 more flowers
Draw 2 more flowers, lower left and lower right, in front of the first and dipping into the leaves.
Step 7: The stalk
From under the top flower draw a short stalk down into the leaves, a little wider at the bottom.
Step 8: The ground
Draw a long ground line through the bottom of the pot, from far left to far right.
Step 9: Yellow dots, ginger pot
Go over your lines, then colour every middle dot yellow and the pot ginger.
Step 10: Purple flowers
Colour all 3 flowers purple, around the yellow dots.
Step 11: Green leaves and stalk
Colour the leaves and the stalk dark green, and your African violet is done!
