How to Draw a Runner
Draw a runner in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room at the sides for arms and below for legs.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 small oval eyes with a dot in each, a tiny U nose and a big smile.
Step 3: Hair and sweatband
Start left on the head. Draw round hair tufts over the top, stopping on the right. Add a sweatband below.
Step 4: Neck, vest and number
Draw 2 neck lines, then a vest from the left one round to the right one. Add a number box.
Step 5: Bent arms
From each shoulder, draw an arm bending at the elbow. Stop one wrist up high and one down low.
Step 6: Mitten hands
On each wrist, draw a round mitten with a little thumb, from one arm line across to the other.
Step 7: Shorts
From the vest's bottom left draw baggy shorts with a dip between the legs, stopping at the bottom right.
Step 8: Standing leg
From the left shorts leg, draw 2 lines down to a thin ankle. Add a sneaker with a sole.
Step 9: Kicking leg
From the right shorts leg, draw a leg kicking back, bent at the knee, with a sneaker at the end.
Step 10: Speed lines and ground
Draw 3 short speed lines on the right, above the kicking leg. Add a ground line under the standing sneaker.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, peach skin
Colour 2 pink cheeks. Colour the face, neck, arms, hands and legs peach around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Red vest and sweatband
Colour the vest and the sweatband red. Leave the number box white.
Step 13: Navy shorts, brown hair
Colour the shorts navy and the hair brown. Leave the sneakers white. Your runner is done!
