How to Draw a Mom Holding a Baby

Draw a mom holding a baby in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, in the middle, draw an egg head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave the middle of the page for the arms and the baby.
Step 2: The face
Below the middle draw 2 round eyes, a lash flick at each outer corner, a U nose and a smile.
Step 3: Hair and fringe
Start at the left eyebrow. Draw hair over the top, down to the right eyebrow, then a fringe across.
Step 4: Long hair
Start high on the hair each side. Draw long hair down past the cheek to the shoulder, behind the face.
Step 5: Neck and dress
Draw a U neck under the chin. From it draw a dress with short sleeves, out to a wide hem.
Step 6: Arms bent in front
From each sleeve draw an arm to a round elbow, then bend it in. Stop at the wrist.
Tip The 2 arms make a cradle shape.
Step 7: Two hands
On each wrist draw a round mitten pointing in toward the middle.
Step 8: The baby's blanket
Draw a big rounded loaf resting on the hands, going behind them. Add a fold curve near the left end.
Step 9: The baby's head
At the left end of the blanket draw a round baby head. Give it 2 big eyes and a smile.
Step 10: Legs, shoes and ground
Under the hem draw 2 legs getting thinner. Under each draw a shoe, toe pointing out. Add a ground line.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink, then mom's skin and the baby's face peach around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Pink blanket, red shoes
Colour the blanket pink around the baby and the hands, and the shoes red.
Step 13: Teal dress, brown hair
Colour the dress teal around the arms and the blanket, and the hair brown. Go over your lines.
