How to Draw Runes
Draw runes in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle stone.
Step 1: The middle stone
A little below the middle draw a big smooth stone like a tall egg with a flat bottom.
Step 2: A happy face
On the lower half draw 2 round eyes with a black dot in each. Add a smile and 2 cheeks.
Step 3: Middle rune
Above the face draw a rune like an up arrow: 1 straight line with 2 short lines from its top.
Tip Runes are made of straight lines only, because they were carved into stone.
Step 4: Left stone
On the left draw a smaller rounded stone tucked a little behind the big one, on the same bottom.
Step 5: Right stone
Do the same on the right: a smaller rounded stone tucked a little behind the big stone.
Step 6: Left rune
On the left stone draw a rune: 1 tall straight line, and 2 short lines slanting up from it.
Step 7: Right rune
On the right stone draw a rune like a Y with a long stem: 2 short lines from its middle.
Step 8: Ground line
Draw a ground line under the stones from one side of the paper to the other.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars: 1 each side of the stones and 1 up on the right.
Step 10: Stone middle, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the middle stone light grey around the face and rune, and the cheeks pink.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
Step 11: Grey stones
Colour the 2 side stones a darker grey, leaving the runes showing.
Step 12: Yellow sparkles
Colour the sparkles yellow. Your rune stones are ready to tell a fortune!
