How to Draw a Clapperboard

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a clapperboard in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the board.

Print

  1. Step 1: The board

In the middle, a little low, draw a big box, wider than tall. Add a thin bar along the top.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

On the board draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving a white shine.

  3. Step 3: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile, eye to eye. Add a small oval cheek beside each end.

  4. Step 4: The clapper

From the bar's top left corner draw a long thin clapper slanting up to the right. Add a hinge circle.

  5. Step 5: Stripes on the bar

On the flat bar draw 6 leaning stripes and colour each one black, so black and white take turns.

  6. Step 6: Stripes on the clapper

Do the same on the tilted clapper: 6 leaning stripes, coloured black, matching the ones below.

  7. Step 7: Chalk lines

Low on the board draw 2 short lines side by side, and a long line under, nearly edge to edge.

  8. Step 8: Ground and sparkles

Draw a ground line under the board from well left to well right, and 3 sparkle stars round it.

  9. Step 9: Pink and yellow

Colour the cheeks pink, and the sparkles and the hinge yellow.

  10. Step 10: Slate board

Colour the board dark slate grey, around the cheeks, and leave the eyes white. Your clapperboard is ready: action!
