How to Draw Roses in Vase
Draw roses in vase in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the vase.
Step 1: The vase
Low down, draw a vase: a smile curve on top, a narrow neck, a round belly, a flat bottom.
Tip Make both sides match.
Step 2: The opening
Start at the left end of the smile. Draw a low rainbow over to the right end, making an oval.
Step 3: Three rose shapes
Draw 3 egg shapes, fat end up: one high in the middle, and one lower each side, leaning out.
Step 4: Swirl buds
Inside each egg, a little above the middle, draw a swirl that goes round almost 2 times.
Tip Start in the middle and let the swirl grow.
Step 5: Petal cups
Start on one side of each egg. Draw a deep U under the swirl, up to the other side.
Step 6: Petal folds
From the bottom of each U, draw a short curved line down to the bottom of the egg.
Step 7: Three stems
From under each rose, draw a thin double-line stem down into the opening of the vase.
Tip The side stems curve. The middle one is straight.
Step 8: Pointy sepals
Under each rose, draw 2 small pointy leaves, one each side of the stem.
Step 9: Four leaves
Draw a pointed leaf on each side of the middle stem, and one on the outside of each side stem.
Step 10: Leaf veins
Start at the stem end of each leaf. Draw 1 line along its middle, stopping before the tip.
Step 11: The table
Draw a table line out from each side of the vase's flat bottom.
Step 12: Red roses
Colour all 3 roses red, right over the swirls and petal lines.
Step 13: Green stems, leaves
Colour the 3 stems, the 4 leaves and the small pointy leaves green.
Step 14: Blue vase
Go over your lines. Colour the vase blue, and the opening blue around the stems.
