How to Draw a Clematis
Draw a clematis in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the trellis.
Step 1: The trellis
Draw 3 tall thin lines from low on your paper almost to the top. Draw 3 long lines across them.
Tip Clematis is a climber: it twines up a trellis.
Step 2: The vine
Start low, left of the middle. Draw a vine wiggling up to the top, getting thinner as it climbs.
Step 3: The first star
On the right of the vine, near the top, draw a small circle with 6 pointed petals round it.
Step 4: A second star
Lower down, left of the vine, draw a smaller star flower. Join it to the vine with a short stalk.
Step 5: Leaves
On the vine draw 3 small pointed leaves, each starting on the vine and pointing out.
Step 6: A tendril
From the top of the vine flick a thin curly tendril, swirling round once to the right.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a soft ground line from the left edge to the right edge. Add 2 grass blades.
Step 8: Yellow middles
Colour the flower middles yellow.
Step 9: Purple flowers
Colour all the petals purple, around the yellow middles.
Step 10: Green vine and leaves
Colour the leaves, the grass and the vine green, and your clematis is done!
