How to Draw a Rose
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cup.
Step 1: The cup
Near the top, draw a rounded cup: a rim sagging like a gentle smile, and a round bottom.
Step 2: Swirl bud
On the middle of the rim, draw a swirl, 2 whole turns, getting wider, until it touches the rim.
Step 3: Petals round the bud
From the rim left of the swirl, draw a big C up over it to touch its top. Same right.
Step 4: Two big petals
From the left wall near the rim, draw a big petal out and over, stopping on the bud. Same right.
Step 5: A petal behind
Start on the left petal's top. Draw a tall rainbow behind the bud, down to the right petal's top.
Step 6: A petal fold
Start at the left rim corner. Draw a soft curve sagging across the cup, stopping at the right rim corner.
Step 7: Pointy leaves
Under the cup, draw 2 pointy leaves like little triangles: one down-left and one down-right.
Step 8: The stem
Start under the cup. Draw a bowed line down to the ground. Add another beside it, wider at the ground.
Step 9: Two leaves
A hand below the bud, draw a fat leaf from the stem out left to a tip. Same right.
Step 10: Leaf veins
From the stem, draw one curved vein line through the middle of each leaf, stopping just short of the tip.
Step 11: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line across the bottom, stopping near the right edge. Add grass.
Step 12: Red rose
Colour the whole flower red: the cup, the swirl bud and every petal.
Step 13: Green stem and leaves
Colour the 2 pointy leaves, the stem and both big leaves green. Your rose is done!
