How to Draw a Rooftop Garden
Draw a rooftop garden in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the building.
Step 1: The building
Draw a wide box on a ground line from left across to right. Add a flat ledge on top.
Tip A rooftop garden is a little park on top of a building.
Step 2: Windows
On the building draw a row of 4 square windows, evenly spaced.
Step 3: The railing
Draw 4 upright posts on the ledge. Start at the left post, draw a rail across, stop at the right.
Step 4: A planter
On the left end of the ledge draw a long box planter standing on it.
Step 5: Leaves
From the top of the planter draw 3 tall pointy leaves, the middle one tallest.
Step 6: A bench
In the middle draw a bench: a seat plank on 2 short legs, with a back plank on 2 posts.
Step 7: A pot
On the right end of the ledge draw a big pot, a little wider at the top than the bottom.
Step 8: A tree
From the pot draw a tree: a trunk going up, with a big soft round bumpy top.
Step 9: Sun and birds
Draw a sun with short rays in the top left corner and 2 little flying birds in the sky.
Step 10: Yellow sun, sky windows
Colour the sun yellow and the 4 windows sky blue.
Step 11: Stone ledge, tan trunk
Colour the ledge stone and the tree trunk tan.
Step 12: Grey building, orange pots
Colour the building grey around the windows, and the planter and the pot orange.
Step 13: Green leaves, wooden bench
Colour the leaves and tree top green, and the bench wood brown. Go over your lines, and you're done!
