How to Draw a Castle in the Clouds
Draw a castle in the clouds in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big cloud.
Step 1: The big cloud
Across the middle of your page draw a long puffy cloud: 4 big bumps on top, small bumps underneath.
Tip Leave room above for the castle and below for the beanstalk.
Step 2: The middle tower
In the middle dip of the cloud draw a tall tower: 2 long sides and a flat top.
Step 3: Two side towers
On each side draw a shorter, thinner tower standing in the cloud. Leave a gap beside the middle tower.
Step 4: Pointed roofs
On top of each tower draw a pointed roof like a party hat, a little wider than the tower.
Tip Make the middle roof the biggest and the tallest.
Step 5: Walls with teeth
Join the towers with 2 low walls. Along the top of each wall draw 3 square teeth.
Step 6: The big door
At the bottom of the middle tower draw a big arched door. Draw a line down its middle.
Tip The cloud hides the bottom of the door, so stop your lines at the cloud.
Step 7: Three windows
Draw a small arched window above the door, and one near the top of each side tower.
Step 8: Three flags
From each roof tip draw a short pole straight up to a pointed flag flying to the right.
Tip All 3 flags fly the same way, as if the wind is blowing.
Step 9: Little clouds
Draw a small cloud at the bottom of the page and 2 little clouds up in the sky.
Step 10: The beanstalk
From the bottom cloud draw a thick wiggly beanstalk curling up to the big cloud, thinner at the top.
Tip Two wiggly lines side by side, getting closer together as they climb.
Step 11: Four leaves
Draw 4 pointed leaves growing out of the beanstalk, 2 on the left and 2 on the right.
Step 12: Grey stone
Colour the 3 towers and the 2 walls stone grey, around the door and the windows.
Step 13: Red roofs, brown door
Colour the 3 roofs and the 3 flags red. Colour the door and the windows brown.
Step 14: Green stalk, blue sky
Colour the beanstalk and its leaves green. Colour the sky blue and leave all the clouds white.
