How to Draw a Pillar
Draw a pillar in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the column.
Step 1: The column
Draw 2 long lines straight up the middle, a hand apart, starting near the bottom and stopping near the top.
Step 2: The top
On top draw a wider flat shape like a tray, and above it a long flat bar with round ends.
Step 3: Two big eyes
In the middle of the column draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, with a shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye. Add a small flat cheek beside each end.
Step 5: The foot
Across the bottom of the 2 lines draw a foot shape that gets wider as it goes down.
Step 6: The slab
Under the foot draw a long flat slab with round ends, a little wider than the foot.
Step 7: Grooves above the face
Above the face draw 5 short lines down the column, evenly spaced, from under the top to above the eyes.
Step 8: Grooves below the face
Below the smile draw 5 more short lines, lined up with the ones above, stopping just above the base.
Step 9: The ground
Draw a ground line under the slab, from well left of it to well right of it.
Step 10: Sparkles
Draw 3 small sparkle stars in the air around the column, away from its edges.
Step 11: Sand top, yellow sparkles
Go over your lines. Colour the top pieces and the base pieces sand, and the sparkles yellow.
Step 12: Stone column
Colour the column stone grey, around the eyes and cheeks. Keep the eyes white.
Step 13: Pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink. Your pillar is done!
