How to Draw a Rocking Chair

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a rocking chair in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the back.

Print

  1. Step 1: The back

In the upper middle of your paper draw a tall back rest with a rounded top and a flat bottom.

  2. Step 2: The seat

Under the back draw a wide flat box, wider than the back, for the seat.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the back rest draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving a white shine.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye, and a small oval cheek beside each end.

  5. Step 5: Spindles

Under the smile draw 5 short straight lines side by side down to the seat, like little fence posts.

  6. Step 6: Two arms

On each side draw a flat arm from the back to the seat's end, with a post under its end.

  7. Step 7: Two legs

Under each end of the seat draw a short leg going down, a little thinner at the bottom.

  8. Step 8: The rocker

Under the legs draw a curved runner with round ends, like a smile. Add a floor line touching its middle.

Tip Keep the runner the same thickness all along, and curved so the chair can rock.

  9. Step 9: Sparkles

Draw 4 little sparkles around the chair, 2 on each side, not touching it.

  10. Step 10: Pink cheeks

Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink.

  11. Step 11: Wood chair

Colour the whole chair wood brown, around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white. Your chair is ready to rock!
