How to Draw a Rock Climber
Draw a rock climber in 18 steps, about 14 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the wall.
Step 1: The wall
Draw a tall box for the climbing wall. Add a flat bar across its top, a little wider.
Step 2: Head and ears
Draw an egg head high on the wall. Add 2 C ears, each starting and stopping on the head.
Step 3: The helmet
Draw a round helmet over the top of the head, a bit wider than the head. Add a rim line.
Step 4: The face
Below the helmet, draw 2 oval eyes with black dots, a tiny U nose and a smile.
Step 5: Neck and T-shirt
From the chin, draw 2 neck lines down to the collar. Draw a T-shirt with sleeves pointing up and out.
Step 6: Arms reaching up
From each sleeve, draw an arm out to the elbow, then bending straight up. Make it thinner at the wrist.
Step 7: Hands on holds
On each wrist, draw a mitten hand with a thumb. Behind each hand, draw a lumpy hold.
Step 8: Shorts and belt
From the T-shirt's bottom left, draw shorts with a middle point, up to the bottom right. Add a belt line.
Step 9: Legs
From each leg of the shorts, draw a leg going down and a little outwards, thinner at the ankle.
Step 10: Shoes on holds
Under each leg, draw a chunky shoe with the toe pointing out. Draw a lumpy hold under each shoe.
Step 11: More holds
Draw 4 more lumpy holds on the wall beside the climber, each with a bolt dot.
Step 12: Mat and floor
Under the wall, draw a long mat with round corners. Draw a floor line under it, from left to right.
Step 13: Peach skin
Colour the face, ears, neck, arms, hands and legs peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 14: Yellow T-shirt
Colour the T-shirt yellow. Colour the 2 holds behind the hands and the top right hold yellow too.
Step 15: Green shorts
Colour the shorts green. Colour the 2 holds under the shoes and the bottom left hold green.
Step 16: Red helmet and shoes
Colour the helmet and shoes red. Colour the last 2 holds red.
Step 17: Mat, bar and belt
Colour the mat sky blue. Colour the top bar and the belt slate blue.
Step 18: Grey wall
Colour the wall grey, around the climber and the holds. Your rock climber is done!
