How to Draw a Karate Gi
Draw a karate gi in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the jacket.
Step 1: The jacket
In the upper middle draw a jacket: a wide V neck, sloping shoulders, and straight sides to a flat hem.
Tip A karate gi is the white suit worn for karate, tied with a belt.
Step 2: 2 eyes
Below the V on the left, draw 2 round eyes a little apart. Colour a black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a tiny U smile. Add a tiny oval cheek beside each end.
Step 4: Lapel
Start at the bottom of the V. Draw a line slanting down right, stopping at the hem.
Step 5: Sleeves
On each side draw a wide sleeve from the shoulder down to a wide open cuff. Add a cuff line.
Step 6: The belt
Across the waist, above the hem, draw a flat belt band, a little wider. Add a small square knot.
Step 7: Belt ends
From the bottom of the knot draw 2 belt ends hanging down, curving out a little.
Step 8: Trousers
Under the jacket draw 2 wide trouser legs down to the ground, with a gap between them.
Step 9: Ground
Draw a ground line under the trousers from left to right.
Step 10: Twinkles
Draw a little twinkle in the air at each side of the jacket.
Step 11: White gi
Go over your lines, then colour the jacket, sleeves and trousers white, around the face. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, black belt
Colour the cheeks pink, then the belt, knot and belt ends black. Hi-ya!
