How to Draw a Robot Spider

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a robot spider in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round body.

Print

  1. Step 1: Round body

In the middle of your paper, draw a big round body, a little wider than it is tall.

Tip Leave lots of room on both sides for the long legs.

  2. Step 2: Camera eye

In the body draw 1 big circle. Draw a smaller circle inside it, then a black dot with a shine.

Tip A robot spider has just 1 eye: a camera.

  3. Step 3: Top legs

From each side of the body, draw a leg up to a round knee, then down to a round foot.

Tip Each leg is 2 straight tubes that meet at the knee. This pair has the highest knees and the feet furthest out.

  4. Step 4: Second legs

Under the top legs, draw 2 more: out to a lower knee, then down to a foot beside the first.

Tip All the feet stand at the same height.

  5. Step 5: Third legs

Draw the next 2 legs: straight out to a knee, then down to a foot beside the others.

  6. Step 6: Bottom legs

Low on each side, draw the last 2 legs: down to a knee, then down to a foot.

Tip Count them: 4 legs on each side make 8 legs, just like a real spider.

  7. Step 7: Smile and bolts

Start under the eye's left side. Draw a small U smile. Stop under its right side. Add 2 round bolts.

Tip Put 1 bolt on each side of the smile, like cheeks.

  8. Step 8: Antenna

From the top of the body, draw a short line straight up. Stop at a small ball.

  9. Step 9: The ground

Start at the left of your paper. Draw a ground line under all 8 feet. Stop at the right.

  10. Step 10: Blue lens, yellow bolts

Colour the lens of the eye light blue, leaving the ring round it white. Colour the 2 bolts yellow.

  11. Step 11: Grey metal

Colour the body grey, around the eye and bolts. Colour the top half of every leg grey too.

  12. Step 12: Red knees

Colour the 8 round knees red. Colour the antenna ball red too.

  13. Step 13: Dark lower legs

Go over your lines. Colour the bottom half of every leg dark grey, from the knee down to the foot.
