How to Draw a Baby Elephant
Draw a baby elephant in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: huge head.
Step 1: Huge head
Near the top of your paper, draw a huge round head, a little wider than it is tall.
Tip Make it big: the head is almost half the elephant.
Step 2: Curled trunk
Low on the face draw a small rainbow. From its ends, draw a trunk down past the chin, curling up.
Tip Fattest at the top, thinnest at the curl. Rub out the chin line inside the trunk.
Step 3: Big eyes and smile
Draw a big round eye each side of the rainbow. From the trunk draw a smile out to each cheek.
Step 4: Huge fan ears
Start high on the head's left. Draw a huge fan ear out, back to the cheek. Same on the right.
Tip Elephant ears are widest at the top, so go wide up top!
Step 5: Inside the ears
Inside each ear, start high on the head line. Draw one curve along the ear's edge, stopping by the cheek.
Step 6: Trunk wrinkles
Draw 3 little rainbows across the trunk, edge to edge: one under the chin and 2 on the bendy part.
Step 7: Body and ground
From each cheek draw a big C down, stopping level with the trunk curl. Draw a ground line below.
Tip Leave a gap under the body for the legs.
Step 8: Fat legs and tummy
Draw a fat leg down from each body line to a wide foot and up. A saggy tummy joins them.
Step 9: Toenails and back feet
Draw 3 toenail arcs on each front foot. Outside each, draw a low bump from the ground to the foot.
Step 10: Tufted tail
Start on the body's right side. Draw a tail, thick then thin, down to a teardrop tuft and back.
Step 11: Pink ears and cheeks
Colour the inside of each ear pink, and give each cheek a small pink dab.
Step 12: Colour it light grey
Colour the head, ears, trunk, body, legs and tail light grey around the pink. Leave the eyes white.
