How to Draw a Clam
Draw a clam in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top shell.
Step 1: The top shell
Draw a big fan shell with 7 round bumps and a sagging bottom. Add a short rib at each dip.
Tip Make it wide: it is the biggest shape.
Step 2: The bottom shell
From the left corner draw a bowl down to a soft point and back up to the right corner.
Tip A clam shell is a fan: narrow at the hinge, wide at the rim.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the top shell draw 2 big eggy eyes, one eye apart, with a black dot and shine in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye. Add an oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: Spokes on the bowl
From the point at the bottom draw 5 lines fanning up like spokes, all the way to the rim.
Step 6: Bubbles
Up on the left draw 3 round bubbles floating up in a gentle curve, each bigger than the last.
Step 7: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy sand line across, touching the point. Grow a wiggly seaweed blade from the sand on each side.
Step 8: Sandy shell, peach top
Colour the bottom shell and the sea floor sandy. Colour the top shell peach, around the eyes and cheeks.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 9: Rosy cheeks, blue bubbles
Colour the cheeks pink and the bubbles light blue.
Step 10: Green seaweed
Colour the seaweed green. Go over your lines and your clam is done!
