How to Draw a Robot Dolphin

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a robot dolphin in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Round head

Start near the top, left of middle. Draw a big arc down into a short blunt nose. Stop under it.

Tip The head is the biggest part. The nose is short, not pointy.

  2. Step 2: Beak

Start under the nose tip. Draw a short curve back and stop under the corner of the head.

Tip Where you stop is the chin.

  3. Step 3: Smile and eye

From the nose tip, draw a long smile back along the beak, curling up. Add a big round eye above.

  4. Step 4: Long back

Start at the top of the head. Draw one long line sloping gently down to near the right edge.

  5. Step 5: Fin on top

Start on the back behind the head. Draw a fin curving up and back to a round tip, back down.

Tip Both ends sit on the back.

  6. Step 6: Belly

Start at the chin. Draw a deep smile belly rising to the right. Stop below the end of the back.

Tip Leave a short neck before the tail.

  7. Step 7: Flipper

Start on the belly under the eye. Draw a leaf flipper pointing back, and stop on the belly further along.

  8. Step 8: Tail flukes

From the back's end, draw a fat fluke up and back to the neck, then one down to the belly.

Tip Like a sideways bow tie.

  9. Step 9: Antenna

Start on top of the head above the eye. Draw a short line straight up to a round ball.

  10. Step 10: Metal seams

Draw 3 curved lines from the back down to the belly: one behind the head, 2 near the tail.

Tip Each seam starts on the back line and stops on the belly line.

  11. Step 11: Screen and bolts

Draw a small tilted screen on the side, a line inside. Add a bolt on the fin, flipper and tail.

  12. Step 12: Grey metal

Colour the whole dolphin grey, around the screen. Leave the eye, the screen and the ball white.

  13. Step 13: Red ball, blue screen

Colour the antenna ball red and the screen sky blue. Go over your lines.
