How to Draw a Roast Chicken
Draw a roast chicken in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the chicken.
Step 1: The chicken
In the middle of your paper draw a big fat oval, wider than your fist, flatter on the bottom.
Step 2: Two drumsticks
Low on each side draw a drumstick, fat and round at the bottom, narrowing up and out past the side.
Step 3: The bones
From the narrow end of each drumstick draw a short bone sticking up and out, 2 lines close together.
Step 4: Knuckles
On the end of each bone draw a knobbly knuckle: 2 little round bumps with a dip between.
Step 5: A platter
Behind the chicken draw a big flat oval platter, wider than everything. Draw a second oval inside for the rim.
Step 6: Potatoes
On the platter at the left, in front of the chicken, draw 2 little lumpy roast potatoes.
Step 7: A lemon wedge
On the right of the platter draw a half round, flat side down, with 3 short lines fanning up inside.
Step 8: Steam
Above the chicken draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up.
Step 9: A table
Draw a table line under the platter from left to right, just touching its bottom.
Step 10: Cream bones, yellow lemon
Go over your lines, then colour the bones and knuckles cream and the lemon yellow.
Step 11: Tan potatoes, blue platter
Colour the potatoes tan. Colour the platter sky blue, going around the chicken, potatoes and lemon.
Step 12: Golden chicken
Colour the chicken and its 2 drumsticks golden orange.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a roast chicken, drawn by you.
