How to Draw a Potato
Draw a potato in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the potato.
Step 1: The potato
In the middle of your paper draw a big lumpy egg on its side, as long as your hand.
Tip Bumpy and lumpy: a potato is never a neat egg.
Step 2: A little potato
Low on the left, draw a small lumpy egg tucked behind the big one. Start and stop where they meet.
Step 3: Potato eyes
Dot 3 little slanted ovals across the top half of the big potato, spread out.
Tip Potato eyes are little dents where sprouts grow.
Step 4: More eyes
Dot 3 more slanted ovals across the bottom half, between the first ones.
Step 5: A shine
Start a finger in from the left end and draw a short curve up along the edge for a shine.
Step 6: A sprout
On the top edge of the big potato draw 2 tiny leaves growing from one point, one leaning each way.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a ground line under both potatoes, just touching them, from well left to well right.
Tip Don't draw through the potatoes.
Step 8: Tan potatoes
Go over your lines, then colour both potatoes tan, going around the 6 eyes.
Step 9: Brown eyes
Colour the 6 potato eyes brown.
Step 10: Green sprout
Colour the 2 sprout leaves green.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a potato, drawn by you.
