How to Draw a Watermelon

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a watermelon in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the slice.

Print

  1. Step 1: The slice

Start on the left. Draw a flat line across and a big U below it, stopping before they meet.

  2. Step 2: The bite

Start at the right end of the top line. Draw a big round bite into the slice, to the U.

  3. Step 3: The rind

Start on the top line, left side. Draw a curve a thumb inside the U. Stop at the bite.

  4. Step 4: White band

Start on the top line, inside the rind. Draw a second curve down and round. Stop on the bite.

  5. Step 5: Seeds

Draw 5 small tilted ovals for seeds, spread across the top of the slice.

  6. Step 6: More seeds

Draw 5 more seed ovals lower in the slice. Tip each one a different way.

  7. Step 7: The table

Draw a long flat table line right under the slice, touching its bottom.

  8. Step 8: Red flesh

Colour the big middle part of the slice red, going around the seeds.

  9. Step 9: Green rind

Colour the wide outside band green. Leave the thin band next to it white.

  10. Step 10: Black seeds

    Colour all 10 seeds black.
