How to Draw a River Otter Pup
Draw a river otter pup in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wide head.
Step 1: Wide head
Up on the left, draw a wide head with a flat top and fat cheeks, wider than it is tall.
Tip Leave lots of room on the right for the long body.
Step 2: Muzzle and smile
Draw a wide oval low on the head and a black nose. From the nose, draw down to a smile.
Step 3: Big eyes
Above the oval draw 2 big round eyes, an eye apart. Add a black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: Short whiskers
Start on each side of the oval and draw 2 short whiskers out onto the cheek. Stop before the edge.
Step 5: Tiny ears
Halfway down each side of the head, draw a tiny round ear with a small curve inside.
Step 6: Long body
Start behind the right cheek. Draw a long bean body with a round bottom, and back under the chin.
Tip The body is almost twice as long as the head is wide.
Step 7: Two short legs
From the chest draw a short leg down to a round paw. Do the same under the bottom.
Tip Give each paw 2 toe lines. Rub out the tummy line inside each leg.
Step 8: Far legs
Draw 2 far legs peeking out, one just behind the front leg and one in front of the back leg.
Tip Only draw the parts you can see.
Step 9: Thick tail
Start on the back. Draw a thick tail out to a soft point, and back to the bottom.
Tip Rub out the body line inside the tail, so the tail and body are one shape.
Step 10: The ground
Draw a long flat line under all 4 paws, from below the head to below the tail tip.
Step 11: Cream and peach
Colour the muzzle oval cream and the insides of the ears peach.
Step 12: Colour it brown
Go over your lines. Colour the otter brown, around the cream and peach. Leave the eyes white.
