How to Draw a Ribbon
Draw a ribbon in 8 easy steps, about 6 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the medal.
Step 1: The medal
A little above the middle of your paper draw a round medal about as big as a plum.
Tip Leave room all round it for the puffy ruffle.
Step 2: Happy face
In the medal draw 2 big round eyes nearly touching. Start under the left eye and smile to the right.
Step 3: Two ribbon tails
Start on the medal's lower left. Draw a wide tail down with a V notch. Do the right too.
Step 4: The ruffle
Draw a ring just outside the medal. Around it draw 16 small bumps, going across the tails.
Tip Keep the dips between the bumps small, so it looks like a frilly ribbon, not a flower.
Step 5: Pleats
Start in each dip between 2 bumps. Draw a short straight line in and stop on the ring.
Step 6: Tail stripes
On each tail start under the ruffle. Draw 2 lines down the middle, a finger apart. Stop on the notch.
Step 7: Rosy cheeks, gold medal
Colour 2 pink cheeks past the ends of the smile. Colour the medal yellow around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 8: Blue ruffle, red tails
Colour the ruffle and ring blue, around the medal. Colour the tails red, but leave the stripes white.
