How to Draw a Painted Rock
Draw a painted rock in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rock.
Step 1: The rock
In the middle of your paper, draw a big smooth rock like a fat loaf, with a flat bottom.
Tip Keep it smooth and round on top, flat on the bottom.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Just below the middle of the rock, draw 2 big eggy eyes an eye apart, with black dots.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile, and a small oval cheek on each side of it.
Step 4: A painted rainbow
Above the eyes, draw a big arch, then 3 smaller arches inside it. Join the ends with short lines.
Tip Keep the top of the rainbow a little below the top of the rock.
Step 5: Painted dots
Paint a few dots on the rock: 2 little rounds low on the right and 2 low on the left.
Step 6: The ground
Draw a ground line from the left edge to the right edge, along the rock's flat bottom. Add grass.
Step 7: A paintbrush
Draw a paintbrush leaning on the rock's right side: handle on the rock, a band, bristles on the ground.
Step 8: Pink and yellow
Colour the cheeks, the dots and the bristles pink, and the middle rainbow band yellow.
Step 9: Red and blue bands
Colour the outside band of the rainbow red and the inside band blue.
Step 10: Wood handle
Colour the brush handle wood brown.
Step 11: Grey rock
Colour the rock and the brush band grey, around the face, rainbow, dots and brush. Leave the eyes white.
