How to Draw a Grader
Draw a grader in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cab.
Step 1: The cab
In the middle of your paper draw a box a little wider than tall, with soft top corners.
Tip Leave room below for the wheels and in front for the long frame.
Step 2: Brim roof
Start at the top right corner. Draw a rainbow roof poking out past both ends, back to the top left.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the front half of the cab draw 2 big round eyes with black dots and white shines.
Step 4: A big smile
Start under the left eye and draw a wide U smile, stopping under the right eye.
Step 5: The big window
Behind the face draw one big window with round corners, filling the back half of the cab.
Step 6: The long frame
From the front of the cab draw a long beam forward, nearly to the edge, ending in a short post.
Tip The long frame is what makes it a grader.
Step 7: The slanted blade
Under the frame draw a post to a ring. Hang a wide slanted blade under it, nearly to the ground.
Tip A thin stick from the blade back up to the frame holds it steady.
Step 8: Exhaust pipe and lamp
From the roof, draw a pipe up, round a cap, down to the roof. Add a lamp on the cab.
Step 9: Three wheels
Start at the bottom left of the cab. Draw a chassis under it, up to the right. Add 3 wheels.
Tip 2 wheels under the cab, one out in front at the post.
Step 10: The ground
Rule one long ground line under the wheels from edge to edge.
Step 11: Sky window, pink cheeks
Colour the window sky blue. Add 2 pink cheeks and leave the eyes and lamp white.
Step 12: Yellow cab and roof
Go over your lines. Colour the cab, roof, frame, posts and strut yellow, going around the window, face and lamp.
Step 13: Grey blade, dark wheels
Colour the blade, ring and pipe grey. Colour the chassis and wheels dark grey, leaving the hubs white.
