How to Draw a Car
Draw a car in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: bumpy car body.
Step 1: Bumpy car body
Start low on the left. Draw one bumpy hill: nose, bonnet, big dome, small boot. Stop low on the right.
Tip One smooth line, no kinks. Both ends stop at the same height.
Step 2: Arches and tyres
Start where you stopped. Draw 2 rainbow arches, back to the nose. Tuck a big round tyre up into each arch.
Tip Each tyre starts and stops at the ends of its arch. Add a hub circle with a dot.
Step 3: Big headlight eye
On the bonnet near the nose, draw a big round headlight eye. Add a black pupil and 2 white shines.
Tip Keep a ring of body all round the eye.
Step 4: Windows
Start on the windscreen. Draw a rainbow just inside the dome, back to the start. Add 2 slanted pillars.
Tip Keep a strip of body between the window and the dome.
Step 5: Smile and bumper
Start under the eye. Draw a bold U smile curling up to the nose. Add a cheek and a bumper.
Tip The bumper starts on the nose and stops back on the nose.
Step 6: Door and handle
Start at the bottom of the back pillar. Draw a line down to the back arch. Add a pill handle.
Step 7: Tail light and pipe
Draw an oval tail light on the boot. Start low on the back, draw a short pipe, stop on it.
Tip Add a 3-bump puff cloud floating behind the pipe.
Step 8: The road
Start in front of the nose. Draw a road line under the tyres, and stop under the puff.
Tip The road just touches the tyres.
Step 9: Blue windows, yellow lights
Colour the windows sky blue, leaving a white shine stripe on the windscreen. Colour both lights yellow.
Step 10: Colour the car red
Colour the body red around the windows, lights and handle, and the cheek pink.
Step 11: Grey bits, black tyres
Go over your lines. Colour the bumper, handle, pipe, puff and hubs grey, then the tyres black around the hubs.
