How to Draw a Captain
Draw a captain in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.
Step 2: The face
Below the middle of the head, draw 2 oval eyes with black dots. Add a little nose and a smile.
Step 3: Captain's cap
Over the top of the head, draw a wide flat cap. Add a band line, a visor and a badge.
Step 4: Beard
Draw a beard from cheek to cheek with 3 soft bumps along the bottom. Curve its top under the smile.
Step 5: Shoulders and jacket
Under the beard, draw round shoulders. Lower down, draw the jacket sides and hem, from armpit round to armpit.
Tip Leave a gap under each shoulder for a sleeve.
Step 6: Lapels and buttons
From under the beard, draw 2 lines slanting down to a V. Add 4 buttons and a hem line across.
Step 7: Long sleeves
From each shoulder and armpit, draw a sleeve down to the wrist, bending softly at the elbow. Add a cuff.
Tip Leave the top of each sleeve open, so it grows right out of the shoulder.
Step 8: Mitten hands
Under each arm, draw a mitten hand like the bottom of an egg. Add a little thumb pointing in.
Step 9: Trousers and shoes
From the jacket hem, draw 2 trouser legs down to the shoes. Add a shoe under each and the ground.
Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face and hands peach, with a pink circle on each cheek. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Yellow buttons, grey beard
Colour the 4 buttons and the badge yellow, and the beard grey.
Step 12: Navy jacket and cap
Colour the jacket, sleeves and cap navy, around the yellow buttons and badge, but not the visor.
Step 13: Black visor and shoes
Colour the visor and the shoes black. Leave the trousers white. Your captain is done!
