How to Draw a Red River Hog
Draw a red river hog in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left draw a long head that slopes down to a thick snout at the front.
Tip The back of the head is tall and the snout end is shorter.
Step 2: Eye and snout
Draw a big eye high on the head. Add an oval snout on the tip, a nostril and a smile.
Step 3: Tasselled ears
On the back of the head draw 2 pointy ears leaning back. Add a soft tuft on each tip.
Step 4: The mask
Start on the snout in front of the eye. Curve under the eye and down to the jaw.
Tip The snout and cheek below this line are the dark mask.
Step 5: The body
From behind the head draw a big bean body: a long back, a round bottom and a tummy.
Tip No neck: the head sits right on the shoulders.
Step 6: Two legs
Draw a ground line. Add a front leg under the chest and a back leg under the bottom.
Tip Each leg gets thinner down to a little doorstop hoof.
Step 7: The far legs
Draw the 2 far legs peeking out: one just behind the front leg, one in front of the back leg.
Step 8: The tail
From the top corner of the bottom draw a thin tail curving out and down to a small tuft.
Step 9: The crest
Start behind the head. Draw a soft wavy line just under the back, stopping before the tail.
Tip The hairy crest runs all along the back.
Step 10: Cream and peach
Go over your lines. Colour the crest and the ear tufts cream, and the snout peach.
Step 11: Colour it orange
Colour the top of the head, ears, body, legs and tail orange, around the cream. Leave the eye white.
Step 12: Grey mask and hooves
Colour the mask, the hooves and the tail tuft dark grey, around the peach snout.
