How to Draw a Brachiosaurus

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a brachiosaurus in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Egg head

Near the top left draw an egg on its side. Start at the bottom and stop short, leaving a gap.

Tip Leave lots of room below for the long neck and the big body.

  2. Step 2: Eye and smile

Draw a big round eye with a black dot near the back. Add a nostril dot and a smile.

  3. Step 3: Long neck

From the 2 ends of the gap draw 2 lines sloping down to the right, getting wider apart.

Tip The neck is about as long as 2 heads.

  4. Step 4: Back and tail

From the top neck line draw the round back, down to a pointed tail, then back under it.

  5. Step 5: Round tummy

From the front neck line draw the chest and a round tummy across to the tail.

  6. Step 6: Front leg

Start under the chest. Draw a thick leg down to a round foot and back up. Add 2 toe lines.

  7. Step 7: Back leg

Start under the hips. Draw a thick leg down to a round foot and back up. Add 2 toe lines.

  8. Step 8: Far legs

Between the near legs draw 2 thinner legs. Start each on the tummy and stop at the leg beside it.

Tip The far legs hide behind the near ones, so you only see a strip.

  9. Step 9: The ground

Draw a straight ground line under all 4 feet, from the left side to the right side.

  10. Step 10: Back spots

On the back draw 3 small ovals in a row, sloping down toward the tail.

  11. Step 11: Colour it green

Colour the head, neck, body, tail and 2 near legs light green, around the spots. Leave the eye white.

  12. Step 12: Dark green parts

Colour the 2 far legs and the 3 spots dark green.

Tip Dark far legs look like they are in the shade.
