How to Draw a Bullet Ant

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a bullet ant in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big head

On the left draw a big round head, a little wider at the top, with a soft chin.

Tip A bullet ant is one of the biggest ants, with a big strong head.

  2. Step 2: Bent feelers

Start on top of the head. Draw 2 thick feelers up, each bent like an elbow, with round tips.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

In the middle of the head draw 2 big egg eyes. Add black dots with white specks.

  4. Step 4: Smile and jaws

Draw a smile under the eyes. Under the chin draw 2 strong curved jaws, like tongs, tips almost touching.

  5. Step 5: Middle body

Behind the head draw a long egg lying on its side, tucked in behind the cheek.

Tip All 6 legs will grow from this part.

  6. Step 6: Waist and bottom

Draw a small bead behind the middle. Behind it draw a big egg with a pointed end.

  7. Step 7: Stinger and stripes

Draw a tiny thorn on the point. Start on top of the egg, draw 2 curved lines; stop underneath.

  8. Step 8: Front legs

Start under the middle body. Draw a thick thigh forward to a knee, a shin down, a foot. Draw 2.

Tip Each leg bends at the knee and gets thinner toward the foot.

  9. Step 9: Middle legs

Next to them draw 2 more legs: thigh back to a knee, shin down, foot pointing forward.

  10. Step 10: Back legs

Draw 2 long back legs reaching under the big egg. That makes 6 legs, all on the middle body.

  11. Step 11: The ground

Draw a straight ground line under the 6 feet, from the left side to the right.

  12. Step 12: Brown legs and jaws

Colour the 6 legs, the 2 jaws, the 2 feelers and the stinger brown.

  13. Step 13: Dark ant

Colour the head, the middle, the bead and the big egg dark grey. Leave the eyes white.
