How to Draw a Cat and Mouse

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a cat and mouse in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: cat's head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Cat's head

On the left, draw the cat's head: an egg on its side with 2 tiny fur points on each cheek.

Tip Keep it on the left half. The mouse sits on the right.

  2. Step 2: Pointy ears

Draw a tall pointy ear on each top corner of the head.

Tip The ears lean out a little, like a cat listening.

  3. Step 3: Cat's eyes

In the middle of the head, draw 2 big oval eyes. Add black dots and white shines.

  4. Step 4: Nose and whiskers

Draw a tiny triangle nose with a W smile under it. Add 2 whiskers out from each cheek.

  5. Step 5: Cat's body

From each cheek draw a C down to the ground. From the chin draw 2 legs down to mitten paws.

Tip The legs are wide at the top and thin at the ankle.

  6. Step 6: Paws and curly tail

Tuck a small bun paw beside each front paw. On the left, draw a thick tail curling up.

  7. Step 7: Mouse's head

To the right of the cat, lower down, draw a small upside-down teardrop head with a soft point below.

Tip The top of the mouse's head is level with the cat's nose.

  8. Step 8: Huge round ears

High on each side of the mouse's head draw a huge round ear, with a smaller oval inside.

  9. Step 9: Mouse's face

Draw 2 big eyes with black dots, a pink nose, a small smile and 2 whiskers out from each cheek.

  10. Step 10: Mouse's body

Start under each cheek and draw a C down. Stop at the bottom middle. Add 2 front legs with paws.

Tip The body is a short pear, narrower than the head.

  11. Step 11: Feet, tail, ground

Draw a back foot beside each paw and a long thin tail curling up. Draw one long ground line.

  12. Step 12: Pink ears and tail

Colour the inside of the mouse's ears and its long thin tail pink.

  13. Step 13: Ginger cat

Colour the cat ginger all over. Leave the eyes white.

Tip Press softly so your black lines still show through.

  14. Step 14: Grey mouse

Colour the mouse grey, around the pink. Leave its eyes white.
