How to Draw a Recorder Player

Step 1: Puffed-cheek head

Draw a big egg head on the left side. Let its lower right bulge out into a puffed cheek.

Tip Leave the right side of the paper empty for the recorder.

Step 2: Eyes and lips

On the right half draw 2 big oval eyes with black dots. Add a small curved mouth by the cheek.

Tip The eyes look down at the recorder.

Step 3: Bob of hair

Draw hair over the top of the head and down past the neck. Add a fringe above the eyes.

Tip Rub out the head line inside the hair.

Step 4: Neck and shoulders

Draw a short neck. Under it draw a body with sloping shoulders, soft sides and a flat bottom.

Step 5: The recorder

From the mouth draw a long thin tube slanting down to the right. Make the bottom end a little wider.

Tip The thin tip sits right at the lips.

Step 6: Rings and holes

Draw a line across the tube near each end. Add 4 small black dots along it for the finger holes.

Step 7: Top hand

From behind the body draw an arm up to the recorder. Add a hand on it with 2 finger lines.

Tip Add a line across the wrist for the end of the sleeve.

Step 8: Bottom hand

From the shoulder draw an arm that bends up to the recorder. Add a hand with 2 finger lines.

Tip Rub out the lines inside the arm and hand. Add a sleeve line at the wrist.

Step 9: Music notes

In the air draw 2 notes: a small black oval, a stem going up and a little flag curling down.

Tip Keep the notes away from the head and the recorder.

Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheek

Colour a pink cheek. Colour the face, neck and both hands peach. Leave the eyes white.

Step 11: Yellow hair, brown recorder

Colour the hair yellow. Colour the recorder light brown around the hands.

Step 12: Purple top

Colour the top and both sleeves purple. Your recorder player is making music!
