How to Draw Birdwatching

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw birdwatching in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top, a little left of the middle, draw an egg for the head, narrower at the chin.

Tip A tree with a bird goes on the right.

  2. Step 2: Face

Below the middle draw a wide U smile.

Tip The eyes hide behind the binoculars, so leave them out.

  3. Step 3: Sun hat

From the left of the head draw the hat up over the top to the right. Add a floppy brim.

  4. Step 4: Neck and T-shirt

Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a T-shirt with round shoulders, ending at the right one.

  5. Step 5: Arms up

From each shoulder draw a sleeve out to a round elbow, then up to a thin wrist by the face.

Tip Both fists come up to hold the binoculars.

  6. Step 6: Fists

On each wrist draw a round fist like a fat egg, with a curved thumb line inside.

  7. Step 7: Binoculars

Over the eyes draw 2 big circles behind the fists. Add a ring inside each and a block between.

Tip Rub out the hat brim line inside the circles.

  8. Step 8: Trousers and shoes

From the T-shirt hem draw 2 trouser legs down to the ankles. Add sneakers with the toes pointing out.

  9. Step 9: Ground and tree

Draw a ground line under the shoes. On the right, from it, draw a trunk up to a bumpy top.

  10. Step 10: A bird on a branch

From the trunk draw a branch out to the left. Sit a bird on it with a beak and tail.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, leaf tree top

Go over your lines. Colour the face, neck and fists peach, and the tree top leaf green.

  12. Step 12: Green clothes, red bird

Colour the hat, T-shirt and sleeves green, and the bird red.

  13. Step 13: Brown trunk, slate rims

Colour the trunk, branch and beak brown, and the binocular rims slate grey.

  14. Step 14: Navy glass and trousers

Colour the binocular glass and the trousers navy. Done!
