How to Draw a Bass Clef
Draw a bass clef in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big curve.
Step 1: The big curve
Start left of the middle. Draw a curve up, over to the right, then sweep down left to a point.
Tip It is shaped like a big ear.
Step 2: The ball
Go back to the start. Curl down, round to the right and up into a ball. Stop at its top.
Step 3: Make it fat
From the top of the ball draw a second curve inside the first. Meet it at the point.
Tip Keep the gap widest on the right side and thin at the tail.
Step 4: Two dots
Right of the curve draw 2 small round dots, one above the other, beside the ball.
Step 5: The F line
Draw a long flat line level with the ball's middle and between the 2 dots. Hop over the fat parts.
Tip Never draw inside the ball or the fat curve. This line is the note F, so it is also called the F clef.
Step 6: The top line
Draw another long line higher up, across the top of the curve. Hop over the fat part again.
Step 7: Three lines below
Draw 3 more long lines below, all the same distance apart. The last one runs under the tail.
Tip Music is written on 5 lines. Count them!
Step 8: Two little notes
Draw a little music note top left and one bottom right: a dot, a stem, a flag.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw a sparkle star in the top right corner and one in the bottom left corner.
Tip A sparkle star has 4 points: up, down, left and right.
Step 10: Yellow sparkles
Colour the 2 sparkles yellow.
Step 11: Blue bass clef
Colour the fat curve, its ball and the 2 dots blue.
Step 12: Purple little notes
Colour the 2 little note dots purple. Go over your lines, and your bass clef is ready to play!
